Globonding and the Relationship Paradoxes

Reflection by Chris Lawson
Sat, 02/16/2008 - 21:15 — chris
“Today on my way to the train station into Boston, I stopped at the local market to get some cash. On the way out across the parking lot I saw what looked like a giant unorganized pile of feathers. As I got closer, I was horrified to realize this was a live sea gull. Both wings were twisted as if they had been tangled in a fan blade. Except for the broken wring, all the vital organs seemed to be untouched. The animal turned its head and looked directly into my eyes, and all at once I saw right into it's Being: Fear sadness, impending death and the longing to fly away as quickly as possible and never stop! Now most people will tell you that We (humans) are the only reasoning beings on this planet. I have always known differently! From my youngest memories, I've always had the ability to feel and live the feelings of others. It began with animals before I could even walk and has developed stronger with the years. So the overwhelming feeling of sorrow for this animal was indescribable.
I phoned the local police department looking for the number of animal control. The officer who answered told me the animal control officer was off duty on Mondays and that I would have to wait until the next day. Now February days in Boston can be unforgiving at best and I explained the situation to the officer. His response was loud and ice sold: SEAGULLS! nobody cares about seagulls. They are nothing but big flying rats! This just added to my sadness.I believe we need loving caring, life-minded people as our public servants and government officials. What kind of example are we projecting to any who are watching? The next generation. Look around everyone! Will we soon be the ones stuck in the parking lot with impending doom in our eyes? Our actions NOW will either condemn us or save us. We have to change our hearts and start caring for our planet, our animals and each other! We are on the brink of cataclysmic disaster, all because we think of nothing but ourselves. The planet is revolting against us, just like we would do if we were infested with fleas. We are the ones that remove use and then destroy all the world has to offer and then look for more! Most parasites rarely kill their host as they want to continue living, We are killing ours quickly.I will not write the 1000+ pages to prove this statement ,We all know the facts. My immediate goal Is to share with you our future If we don't change our hearts Yesterday our future lies in the eyes of the sea gull.
I was really not looking forward to getting off the train that afternoon knowing that the cold dark was approaching I really didn’t want to have to do the right thing and put the poor animal out of it's misery. To my surprise it was gone. Apparently the police had received a lot more calls than just mine, which gives me the confidence and knowledge that if enough people stand up and speak out we can institute change together.

About the Face and Body Paint of the Yawanawa
This week, we are working on material produced during last week's art class and known as "Yawanawa", which took place in the village of Mutum in the indigenous region of the Gregório River, from November 10-15, 2007.
Today, we began to look at all of the material produced during the class, and upon touching the paintings, one could feel the energy left there by the women. I am passionate about Yawanawa Art, principally because of the face and body paintings. When I am painted, I feel the energy flowing from the pores of my skin, the force of tradition from the ancestral expression of the Yawanawá people.
From time immemorial, the Yawanawá people have used facial and body painting as an expression of beauty and health. The designs that we use have a meaning, when someone is painting another person, she is not only seeing the person but she is painting in agreement with their personality and their energy.
Using red colors (from the Urucrum seed) the black (resin from the sepa, a tree which produces a black resin)we paint each other. To be painted by another person is a demonstration of love endearment and respect.
In past times, our people painted themselves before going to war, the painting made our warriors lose their fear of fighting and they felt protected by the paintings. Presently, our paintings serve as our clothing and protects us from the "evil spirits”.
Various paintings were done in cotton fabric, each painting is a work of art that expressed the cosmologic world of the Yawanawa, of nature, of spirits of animals and of being human.
We are working with Globond to make a new collection of clothing with Yawanawá motives and the Yawanawá brand. With this, we want to promote the Yawanawá brand through the commercialization of clothing, painted accessories, launching into the market products which identify our indigenous culture, with market appeal vindicating our styles, across a mix of interaction of of different products and pieces, having their social, cultural and environmental references, turning them into financial resources for the maintenance and self-development of the Yawanawá community.
And so we continue here working to unite the traditional with the new.
Until the next time...Tashka

Internet Invitations
Sat, 12/01/2007 - 05:41 — chris
Plaxo? LinkedIn? Facebook? Again, after writing “funny faces” I thought I’d said all I could say about this issue. I was wrong! My colleges and some members have been sending me invitations to join their tech groups. My good friend Thomas Power sent me a Plaxo Pulse invitation a few months ago. I signed up posted no profile or picture at first, every day I had several e mails to add me to others connections. Now I am very aware of the power of the internet tools for business and the acquisition of knowledge, but I am not one who spends a lot of time in front of the computer.
Most of my life is based on hands-on experiences, face to face encounters and one on one interaction. I’m not really on line a lot doing business. My partners now are a different story. They were horrified to find out the other day that I was not replying to all the Linked In invitations I was getting from Plaxo Pulse! I don’t get it! These people are already linked to me on Plaxo, why do I need to connect with them on LinkedIn? Is it all about number of contacts? A contest? I don’t see it; large numbers just seem to complicate things to me.
Our view is quality is much more valuable than quantity this world of virtual business has a lot of imitation reality huge numbers of contacts who you never met face to face can never take the place of real personal relationships forged over years through trust and personal experiences. So as long as all we remember from behind our computer screen that there is a real and solid world waiting for us outside our walls. Then and only then will we be able to use the computer tools at our finger tips for the advancement of us all.

Funny Faces
Mon, 07/30/2007 - 09:00 — chris
I myself am not a tech guy; my partners on the other hand are very accomplished in the use of these network tools: .Linked-in, Ecademy, Plaxo. Skype and last but not least, Face Book. All tools used by today’s tech wizards and apprentices. I can’t say that I myself have been online using these tools more than a dozen times. You therefore can understand my surprise when Kirstin informed me of my presence on Face Book. But through my protest she insisted that it was the "in" thing and that a Senior Managing Director of GLOBOND needed to stay “in the loop". Well I wanted to see what the big deal was so I logged on. At first glance I thought this is great to know where your business contacts are and get some personal insight as well. But as I probed deeper I noticed some disturbing psychological patterns among a lot of the population on this site. So many things that I don’t need to know! Do these people really think these things are important? The things we all do on a daily basis. It seems to me "I’m at the dentist", "taking a shower”, “Having dinner with Mary" - all seem to be forms of psychological distress. A cry for help! From people who wish they were famous or worse people who actually believe that every action they take is an earth moving event! This can be compared to public exhibitionism, and by the number of people involved we can see many are really turned on!
How much responsibility are we taking for our actions?
Wed, 07/04/2007 - 09:00 — luizsakuda
Hi Globonders and Friends,
Today is July 4, Independence Day in the United States. We therefore intended to write our blog posting about freedom until we noticed that one of our own, Peter Cajander, had already expressed our sentiments in a way that we could not improve upon. We are therefore proud to present you with Peter’s own blog posting from June 24:
June 24, 2007 at 2:53 by Peter Cajander
“We like to have our freedom. It is great and fun to explore and extend our boundaries. We love to take the credit for our actions, but only selectively. Positive consequences are naturally ours to claim but what about the not so desired effects?
Freedom and responsibility go hand-in-hand—the greater the freedom the greater the responsibility as well. Our current society does not encourage personal freedom. In practice we are sanctioned, monitored, and restrained in almost all aspects of life. We have learned to behave obediently and not to question the behaviour patterns or norms of the society. Like Goethe once said: “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.”
We have created an artificial layer that is expected to protect individuals from harms and consequences of their personal actions. This has created a culture where people have become accustomed (or learned) to become passive and not to take action themselves. We expect someone else to tell us what to do or help us out of our own problems. This has come so far that we even regard we have the right and the others’ the moral obligation to unilaterally support us. We have isolated ourselves from the effects of our actions.
Our personal initiatives and responsibility are very limited, but so is our freedom as well. We haven given up our rights in order to gain something for nothing. We prefer to have it easy and let others to bear the consequences for us. Unfortunately this is a zero-sum game in an aggregate level and as a result everybody is worse off. There are no free lunches—there is always someone paying the bill.
Isolating individuals from their actions’ consequences is a double-edged sword. It creates an illusion of safety and protection but at the same time it removes the control from the very person. And this creates uncertainty, fear, and self-esteem issues among others. Simply we do not feel anymore that the life is in our own hands: we are on top of the issues and have the solutions available for us. Confidence and security build from experience and the knowledge that we have the tools and the means to cope with our circumstances.
It requires practice and experience to become good at something. This means that we have learned something by experimenting and sometimes even making wrong choices that have guided us to do something differently in the future. In other words we have the motivation to keep going and to get better. All this requires responsibility. Responsibility is the feedback mechanism that shows us how we are performing and the results of our pursuits. Mastery is only possible for those who are aware of their actions and their consequences.
Look around you—how much responsibility are we taking for our actions?

The Total Solution to Global Warming May have been discovered by Globond in Gloucester, Massachusetts.
Tue, 07/03/2007 - 09:00 — luizsakuda
Today is the official inauguration day of the new Globond blog. We have quite a few “Globloggers” (Peter Cajander www.petercajander.com/blog Mike Myatt www.n2growth.com, David Teten http://thevirtualhandshake.com/blog/ and Thomas Power www.ecademy.com/module.php?mod=blog&uid=8) . However, we had not done more than a couple of feeble attempts in the past. Then last week Kirstin listened to one of Mike Myatt’s increasingly popular webcasts on “Personal Branding of the CEO” and there along with 399 other CEOs (many from Fortune 500 companies), she was told:
“I am convinced that I don’t have the time NOT to blog…Blogging is not an afterthought, but rather it is something that is part of my daily regimen. It is meaningful to and appreciated by our audience as well as being useful to me by helping me refine my thinking and allowing me to synthesize disparate thoughts into valuable information and useful content. “Mike then commented: “If you are not blogging, you are wrong”.
So here we are! We looked for an inspirational quote to help us begin and this is what we found: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” Mark Twain
Ok so today’s insight is based on contemplation about an unusual conversation that two of us had on Saturday night in Gloucester, Massachusetts: We may in fact have discovered the TOTAL solution to global warming. Get the whole story on this in Friday’s blog but the take-away for today is that the world is really HUGE!!!!
Editorial: Back to the Future
Sat, 12/30/2006 - 08:00 — globond
Globond Journal November-December 2006
Each of the six journals we wrote in 2006 focused on a particular concept. Over time these concepts have crystallized into a unique and innovative structure, which we have named the “Globond Business Machine” (GBM).
The Globond Business Machine is not just about business; it can also be used to forge and accelerate friendships or philanthropic projects. The GBM is built on 1) Creative Change through which we embrace new opportunities and situations as they arise; 2) The Globond Way of ethical, mutually beneficial and honest business practices; 3) Chasing Rainbows… going where the dreams and aspirations of our members take us; 4) being Plugged In to the right people and their networks, whose track record and contacts give us our power, and 5) The Puzzle in which each new member is a key piece that helps us complete the bigger picture. Finally, the GBM operates under the assumption that 6) “It’s all One Deal”: If we all work together as a team for each other´s benefit and for the common good, our sum will be much greater than the parts. With one mind, we work to connect and leverage ourselves, unlocking our hidden potential.
As an essential tool for the operation of the GBM we have a brand-new CRM system which will allow us to be more effective and responsive to our members. We are also finishing the website which will allow Globonders to power network among themselves with minimal involvement from the Globond executive team.
Our previous accomplishments and ideals keep us on course as we move “back” into the promising and exciting future. Happy New Year and let’s rock in 2007!
Editorial: Plugged-in
Fri, 06/30/2006 - 07:00 — globond

Globond Journal May-June 2006
Generally, the phrase “plugged-in” refers to energy (electric) or technology, such as computers, TV's, cellphones, etc. There is also a slang meaning which means being part of a network and having access to insider information, being “in tune”, “in the know” on a certain subject or area, staying current (pun intended) or meeting important people.
Here at Globond we've taken this phrase to a whole new level, to the point that some of our deals are so big they seem unreal. Because of our long-term relationships with our members and associates, we receive offers and opportunities beyond normal boundaries. In the 2 months since our Brazilian summit, our “plugged-in” status has far surpassed even our own wildest expectations. Working in conjunction with founding members from all over the world (Brazil, UAE, UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, etc.) we have turbo-charged our unique and trusted community: The number of deals and opportunities within our network increases day by day, adding more benefit to our membership and to our company at the same time. “This share the wealth and have fun” mentality and ambience we have with Globonders makes it so that we are all “plugged in” to a network that is tailored to each one's personal needs. When a Globonder submits their 5 goals (both personal and professional), it enables us to connect them to the people, information and opportunities that benefit them and the rest of our community as well, increasing the overall power influx. In other words, the more talented and connected members we engage, the more results we have, thereby attracting more “powerhouses” and creating a ripple effect. As a Globonder, you will increase your efficiency as well as ours in a win-win proposition, giving credibility to our philosophy of doing business and making friends with our members. This makes Globond membership one of the most cutting-edge investment opportunities today.
Editorial: it's all one deal
Fri, 06/30/2006 - 07:00 — globond
In World As Lover, World As Self, a Definition of Synergy, Joanna Macy says: “Most of our cultures have held a hierarchical view for centuries.” This view permeates corporations, which see workers as a necessary evil, a cost which is meant to be kept as low as possible, to be forced into retirement as soon as feasible. Macy points out that this is not the way nature works. “From the ecological perspective, all open systems - be they cells or organisms, cedars or swamps - are seen to be self-organizing… Living systems evolve in complexity, flexibility, and intelligence through interaction with each other. These interactions require openness and vulnerability in order to process the flow-through of energy and information. They bring into play new responses and new possibilities not previously present, increasing the capacity to effect change. This interdependent release of fresh potential is called synergy. It is like grace, because it brings an increase of power beyond one’s own capacity as a separate entity.”
Globond operates as one of these self-organizing systems and as a business model for the futurewhere all parties benefit mutually and substantially. Even our executive team-members do not work for “the company,” but rather are part of the team, for reasons of like-mindedness. We act like a group-mind, as Napoleon Hill recommended in his classic book “Think and Grow Rich.” With one mind, we work to connect and leverage ourselves, unlocking our hidden potential. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts, and we believe that after all, “it is all ONE DEAL.”
Editorial: Chasing Rainbows
Sun, 04/30/2006 - 07:00 — globond
Globond Journal March-April 2006
We all chase rainbows throughout our lives searching for our pot of gold. At Globond, we receive, our pot of gold every day by helping honest, hard-working and ethical Globonders to locate their share. Our business is completely unique because we are not just networkers but also brokers of people, information, talents and experiences. The rainbow in the picture above moved us when we saw it from the plane because it signifies the quest, and at the same time, the end result of the journey.
Globond has grown leaps and bounds even since we published our February journal, as have the number and scope of opportunities within our community. We are proud to be a major stepping stone for so many of our members because as they thrive and prosper, we do the same. Our goal is to promote and guide our community into future of a truly global economy.
Our attendance at the 10th annual World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs (WSYE) in Sao Paulo, Brazil last month changed our lives as well as many of the members who were present. We made new friends and found more Globonder founding members, while gaining important experience in a world forum. With new partners in New Zealand, South Africa, Uruguay, Hawaii, Dubai and Kuwait (to name only a few) our ability to execute on a global scale and in record time has been given a big boost.
Globond brings people together and fills the gaps that would keep them from working and playing together. These gaps can sometimes be small and are often overlooked but they can get in the way of effective collaboration and keep people from doing business with one another. If you are interested in chasing after your own rainbow until you find the pot of gold, send us an e-mail and we will see if you and Globond are a good fit for one another. If we are, then we can help you realize your dreams by providing you with key business and social connections, inside information and organized and spontaneous events as you live and work around the world. We hope to hear from you soon.
